Gun control legislation has set out to make communities, and neighborhoods safer throughout the United States. The main focus has been to keep guns out of the hands of dangerous individuals. In addition to regulating who can purchase guns, the law has been revised to promote gun safety. Specifically, in households where accidents are more likely to happen. Opposing sides of gun control believe that these ideas are a move toward tyranny, in which the federal government will overtake all individuals. The current state regulations would be null and void, and a citizens right to bare arms will be violated. Anti gun control support includes the National Rifle Association, that argue constitutional rights violations. In addition, they point the facts supporting self defense procedures. For example, they have highlighted the fact that the use of guns as a crime deterrent is used more often by gun owners. This statistic is higher than that of crimes related to guns.

The National Rifle Association makes it difficult for gun control supporters to draft up legislation on the issues of gun safety. Gun opponents campaign on behalf of all the hunters, and protectors in the world. If guns were restricted, than recreational sports would dwindle in numbers, and people would be more susceptible to crime involving guns.
